Welcome to CHiTA, the Center for High-Frequency Technologies and Applications

About CHiTA

In today's information society wired and wireless communications networks play a crucial role. The development of new ICT-applications requires know-how of the hardware and software aspects of the seven layers of the OSI model. The Center for High-Frequency Technologies and Applications (CHiTA) unites the expertise of four research laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering (Dept. of Information Technology and Dept. of Electronics and Information Systems) of the Ghent University .  CHiTA's focus is on the first layer of the OSI model, viz. the physical layer, and especially on the modeling, characterization, and design of high-frequency electrical and opto-electronical devices and systems. This research domain is generally acknowledged as being very labour-intensive and challenging. Internationally recognized and honoured engineers and scientists constitute the core of CHiTA, breaking new grounds at the base of the rapidly evolving information and communication technology and fulfilling the high demands of the contemporary end users.

CHiTA's Mission

CHiTA is supported by the Industrial Research Fund (IOF -- Industrieel Onderzoeksfonds) and Ghent University's Technology Transfer Office. Through funding, partner search, and by helping to build strategic alliances, CHiTA is assisted in valorizing and protecting its academic research results. In the spirit of the modern knowledge economy, CHiTA's investigators perform fundamental academic research whilst also having an eye for the ever changing market and consumer needs. CHiTA's main objective is to transfer innovative technology by working towards research outcomes and prototypes that lead to economical viable and valuable products.
