The development of modeling tools and methods for complex high-frequency and electromagnetic systems is a very important research domain within CHiTA (next to characterization and actual design). To avoid the manufacturing of prototypes during the design cycle of new products, which is very expensive and increases the time-to-market dramatically, the HF design engineer must dispose of accurate and efficient computer aided design (CAD) tools. CHiTA focuses on the modeling of large, complex structures, on interconnects, and on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Signal Integrity (SI) issues.
